A CAA MCK (Command Arms Accessories Micro Conversion Kit) is a chassis that converts your handgun into something very like a pistol-caliber carbine (PCC).
They are compatible with a variety of popular handguns, and for the most part are very easy to use. Here are some important facts about them.
Configuring a CAA MCK Requires No Modifications
CAA MCK platforms are designed for easy compatibility with specific handguns. For those models with which they are compatible no changes are required to the handgun, either permanent or temporary. You can install the handgun just the way it is.
That fact makes CAA MCK platforms among the easiest upgrades you can make to a handgun, and one that you can make at home. No need to travel to a gunsmith for an upgrade like this.
When You Remove and Reinstall a Handgun, Zero Will Shift
As easy as it is to remove and reinstall a handgun in a micro conversion kit, if you do remove and replace the gun, your zero will shift - these micro conversion kits are not auto-zeroing. So, if you ever do that, expect your zero to shift; you will have to recalibrate the platform.
This applies whether or not you are shooting over iron sights or have an optic mounted over your MCK, so be aware of it if you habitually remove and reinstall your MCK.
A Wide Range of CAA MCK Accessories Is Available
Another of the great things associated with CAA MCK platforms is that there are tons of mounting points (just like there are on a sporting rifle), and, on top of there, there is a wide range of CAA MCK accessories that are available.
You can shop through plenty of them on our website. We sell MCK accessories that improve handling, like thumb rests and stocks, as well as slings, brass catchers, lights, optics, and all other sorts of shooting accessories.
CAA MCK Platforms Allow for Ambidextrous Charging
One thing you might be hesitant to abandon about the ergonomics of your slide action pistol is how it doesn’t favor either right or left-handed users, since the charging handles and forward assists of rifles generally do.
The good news: CAA MCK platforms are made with wide wings that serve as charging handles and which are effectively accessible from both sides of the build - so they are friendly to both right and left-handed shooters without favoring either.
The other thing here is that these charging “wings” (handles) also boost the overall usability of the platform and allow strong purchase for confident manual cycling, whether to charge the platform or clear jams.
Extra Firepower Is Built In
The people behind the design of the MCK really put a lot of consideration into it, to the point that there is a slot at the front end of the platform that is designed to accept a spare magazine. It’s model dependent, and held there with friction, which makes it pretty hard to remove, except with a deliberate effort.
This means two things: one, you always will have a backup mag close at hand (if you want) and two, it’s like there’s a vert grip built into the design which can help considerably with handling.
Most Users Can Shrink Their Groups with No Extra Effort
One thing to get clear right out of the gate is that an MCK is not going to magically give your handgun rifle-like accuracy. But at the same time, it’s a lot better than shooting the handgun naked.
Most shooters find that they can seriously shrink their groups at both close and intermediate ranges, with no other changes to how or what they’re shooting. Just the flexibility to shoulder the platform, and the superior handling and control it offers, is all that’s needed.
CAA MCK Platforms Are Configurable with Side-Folding Braces
Another great thing about CAA MCK platforms is that if you get one with a side-folding brace, you can pack it down to diminish the size and overall footprint of the platform. This makes it easier to transport and conceal one, and vastly improves discretion.
CAA MCK platforms (like AR-15 pistols) make good truck guns and home defense platforms, and for what it’s worth, there are special cases you can get for them that will improve discretion even further.
