Lower Part Kits

What Is a Lower Parts Kit?
Unlike many types of firearms which have a single frame or receiver that joins all of the working parts, many sporting rifles (like AR-15s and other AR-style rifles) have both upper and lower receivers. The lower receiver is the part that is regulated by the ATF and thus considered a “gun.” To complete a rifle build at home, you will need a variety of tools, as well as a lower receiver blank (also called an 80% lower), and a lower parts kit.

The lower parts kit often contains all of the hardware and components you will need to complete a finished lower (minus the lower receiver itself). Exactly what the kit contains will vary, but many of our lower parts kits contain:

● Fire selector lever
● Bolt catch assembly with hardware
● Buffer tube detents and springs
● Takedown pivot pin detents and springs
● Takedown pins
● Safety spring and detent pins
● Trigger & hammer pins
● Trigger guard assembly
● Pivot pin
● Mag catch

Please note - laws vary according to state and jurisdiction. Please consult a lawyer before beginning your home build in order to ensure you are in full compliance with all applicable legislation.

What Else Do I Need?
What else you will need will vary in accordance with the content of the kit. However, generally, In addition to a lower parts kit, you will also need a lower receiver, a grip, a trigger assembly, a buffer tube kit, and stock, and an upper receiver or a complete, assembled upper, which will contain a barrel, upper receiver, BCG, CH, gas system, forward assist, ejection port cover, and handguard. You may also be able to buy an all-in-one kit called a build kit (which may even come with a stripped lower).
