Everything You Wanted to Know About the Micro Roni

Posted by MCS GEAR UP on Jan 4th 2024

Handguns are light, agile, easy to maneuver, and highly concealable, but let’s be honest.

When it comes to handling, accuracy, and recoil mitigation, they fall short of shoulder mounted arms on basically every level.

However, through chassis-platforms like the CAA MCK and the Micro Roni, you can effectively convert your handgun into a sort of carbine-like platform.

These systems convert basic handguns, improving handling, confidence, and expandability, and enhancing accuracy, even at extended ranges.

What Is a Micro Roni?

The Micro Roni is originally an Israeli invention that is basically a platform that accepts handguns and converts them into a sort of carbine, offering improved handling, stability, and expandability.

There are Micro Roni kits available for a wide range of handguns, but their Glock-compatible models are among the most popular. The platform itself is also popular because it does not require any modifications to be made to the handgun it accepts.

Also, they are popular because they can significantly improve the shooting experience - see the FAQs section below.

Micro Roni: Specs and Features

The Micro Roni platform offers shooters a lot of specifications, features, and benefits that can improve the shooting experience. Among these are as follows:

  • No pistol disassembly is required to upgrade a handgun; simply insert the platform and lock it in place.
  • The platform features a long section of Picatinny rail over the top as well as along the sides, perfect for expanding with optics and other shooting accessories.
  • There is an integral mag carrier for a spare mag, underneath and at the front of the platform.
  • The platform has an ambidextrous charging handle and safety.
  • They feature a stock that folds for easy carry and concealment.
  • Integral thumb rests improve comfort, control, and muzzle flip mitigation.
  • They can be configured with an integral front flashlight.

Micro Roni: FAQs

Do you have questions before you get a Micro Roni platform? See if yours is here and contact us if you don’t see it.

● Is a Micro Roni worth it?

That depends on what your purposes are. If you don’t mind the cost of the platform, it might very well be worth it.

Cost aside, considering the fact that these chassis help vastly improve the handling and recoil-control of a handgun, if you are recoil sensitive or need to improve accuracy, they are definitely worth it.

● What guns are compatible with the platform?

              Micro Roni

There are Micro Roni platforms compatible with select Glock pistols (Gen 3, 4, and 5 Glock 17, 18, 19, 19X, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 31, 32, and 45 pistols), as well as select Smith & Wesson (full-size and compact M&P models in 9mm and .40 S&W) and Sig Sauer handguns (full-size and compact P320 in 9mm and ,40 cal). See their website for a complete breakdown of compatibility.

● What are the benefits of a Micro Roni?

There is a wide range of benefits associated with these platforms. One is that they require no modifications of the original handgun. Another is that they vastly improve expandability due to the adequate rail space, so adding shooting accessories like lights, lasers, and optics is a cinch.

Also, one of these conversion kits adds weight to the platform, as well as contact points, making it much easier to control recoil and muzzle jump, making them perfect for recoil-sensitive shooters.

Moreover, and perhaps most importantly, the presence of a stock means that most shooters can substantially enhance accuracy even at extended ranges, which is critical in competitive, sporting, and defensive applications.

● Is the platform expandable?

Not only is the Micro Roni expandable, that is one of its biggest selling points. There is tons of rail space on the platform, and they can easily be upgraded with lights, lasers, optics like red dot sights, and of course other specific shooting accessories and attachments.

Similar platforms like the CAA Micro Conversion Kit are also compatible with a wide range of MCK accessories that are specifically designed for compatibility with these chassis systems.

● Is it an NFA item?

The Micro Roni is an NFA item that requires a tax stamp so consult a firearm lawyer if you have any questions before you attempt to purchase one.

● What’s the difference between a Micro Roni and an MCK

CAA MCK platforms have a lot in common with the Micro Roni; one of the main differences is that the MCK is just a little bit larger and heavier than the Roni. This may be negligible if you add a lot of attachments and accessories to the platform, though.
