Two Great CAA MCK Accessories for Intermediate Range Shooting

Two Great CAA MCK Accessories for Intermediate Range Shooting

Posted by MCS GEAR UP on Nov 11th 2024

Want to convert your handgun into a platform that can shoot effectively (and accurately) at intermediate ranges?

What you need is a CAA MCK, or Command Arms Accessories Micro Conversion Kit. These conversion kits, also known as MCKs, are basically chassis that convert your handgun into a carbine-style platform.

They are more stable and enable more effective recoil and muzzle flip mitigation, making them better for intermediate-range shooting, inherently.

But if you want to give them another boost for shooting at intermediate ranges, do it with these CAA MCK accessories.

For Glock Handguns: Barrel Extensions

So let’s look at something that’s true about MCK models across the board. They’re designed for handguns, which are pretty much exclusively chambered in pistol calibers.

Pistol calibers, like 9mm and .40 S&W, are loaded with large, heavy, slow bullets that are designed for energy transfer and optimal penetration at close ranges.

What they’re not designed for are stability and accuracy at intermediate and extended ranges. Granted, good shooters can still connect with targets at longer distances, but there are way better cartridges than these.

What makes the whole thing worse is the low muzzle velocity of most handguns, compared to most rifles. This results in a slow bullet with a badly drooping trajectory that is not particularly effective at intermediate and long ranges.

Part of the problem is the short barrel. What a pistol gains in competitive advantage for close quarters engagements through its compact stature, it trades off in efficacy at extended ranges/

But there is a workaround here, at least for some handguns, and it is an innovative and highly practical MCK accessory - a barrel extension for select Glock handguns.

If you have a Glock and have paired it with an MCK, one great way to add both velocity and accuracy to the platform is by configuring the handgun with a barrel extension.

It will change the handling of the MCK considerably, but at the same time, if you’re outfitting the conversion kit for intermediate range shooting, that should hardly matter.

The bottom line is that this CAA MCK accessory will boost accuracy and muzzle velocity, resulting in greater overall performance when shooting at intermediate ranges.

MCK Red Dot Sights

                     CAA MCK accessories

The second (but equally important) CAA MCK accessory we have to call out for intermediate-range shooting is an MCK optic like the red dot sights, made in collaboration with Crimson Trace, that we sell here.

These red dot sights offer an incredible amount of value to shooters of all different disciplines, and will totally transform your MCK.

For one, they will enhance your accuracy as compared to when you’re shooting over iron sights. There is no sight radius, just a single red dot to use as a point of aim - it’s point and shoot shooting.

Also, these red dot sights are built tough, with a durable aluminum housing; they are shock, recoil, fog, dust, and impact-resistant.

They feature 14 different brightness settings - 7 for the red dot and 7 for the green dot setting - making them perfect both indoor and out under all ambient light conditions, and with a small, crisp, 4-MOA dot, they’re ideal for connecting at both close and intermediate ranges.

Fine, 1-MOA adjustments for windage and elevation are possible, making it easy to dial in this red dot for extraordinary precision, and they’re extremely long-lasting as well, accepting a single CR2032 battery with a battery life of over a year.

It also turns out there are a lot of advantages of red dot sights over scopes for intermediate shooting, too. While scopes are better at greater ranges, red dots have a lot of advantages at intermediate ranges, as well as up close.

Let’s not forget one of the best things about red dot sights in general - they are also great for close-quarters engagements, too, so it isn’t all about intermediate shooting with these optics.

The thing about scopes is that, while they don’t require batteries, they tend not to be as effective in the dark. They also can produce parallax distortions (red dot sights don’t), and on top of that, red dot sights enable you to acquire the target more rapidly while also maintaining a much more open, clearer sight picture.

Explore These and Other CAA MCK Accessories

Together, these two CAA MCK accessories may be able to help make you a more proficient shooter at close, and more importantly, intermediate ranges. A barrel extension can add velocity and accuracy and a red dot sight can help you more faster, more accurate instinctive shots that are just a bit beyond close range.

Together, they can prove transformative, but they’re also not the only CAA MCK accessories that we offer here. Take a look through our complete catalog at the previous link and get in touch with us at Sales@MCSGearup.com if you have any questions.
