What You Need to Know About MX-1 Conversion Kits

Posted by MCS GEAR UP on Mar 9th 2026

For a while, CAA MCK micro conversion kits, which are compatible with a wide range of handguns and which require the user to make no handgun modifications, had the market cornered on handgun conversion kits.

And, for what it’s worth, they still drive incredible value. You can see some of the previous posts we’ve written about them in our blog; in a nutshell, they’re easy to configure, offer numerous attachment points, and naturally improve stability, which not only helps corral felt recoil and muzzle flip, but which can extend accuracy out past 100 yards, something that’s tough to do with a handgun.

But, if in your travels looking for a Glock conversion kit you desire something slightly different, you may have come across MX1 conversion kits (or MX-1 conversion kits) which offer all of the same functionality and the same benefits of MCK micro conversion kits, but in a slightly different package.

Here’s what you need to know about these revolutionary conversion kits.

Solid Construction

MX-1 conversion kits are made with hybrid aluminum and polymer construction. This not only makes them exceptionally lightweight and therefore highly maneuverable (the kit itself only weighs about a pound and a half) but also very strong. The hybrid construction also sports materials that are highly corrosion resistant, streamlining cleaning and maintenance.

Easy Use

One of the selling points of an MCK micro conversion kit is that it doesn’t require any modifications to install a handgun, or any tools. MX-1 conversion kits are similar in the sense that they feature a patented tool-free locking system that makes it a breeze to configure a compatible handgun.

The locking system is a point that deserves a special note, especially if you have had problems with conversion kits before. In addition to being easy to use, it eliminates play between the handgun and the chassis, offering a tight, solid, secure fit with no rattle.

Ergonomically, MX-1 conversion kits are intuitive and sport an AR-style charging system that is easy to adopt and use, with a minimal learning curve.

It’s also highly compact, and configurable with a side-folding stock that enables it to collapse down into a form small enough to stash in a backpack, all while maintaining premium construction.

MX1 Conversion Kits: Built-in Stability

recoil control

The built-in side-folding stock (or stabilizer) of the MX1 conversion kit arguably offers the greatest value here. Thanks to this feature, these conversion kits will convert your handgun into a carbine or SBR-style platform that offers considerably greater stability.

The big advantage here is in recoil control and stable aim, both of which will improve your ability to execute accurate shots, even at extended ranges, in some cases before 100 yards, which with an unmodified handgun would be exceedingly difficult.

Also, the innate ability of an MX-1 conversion kit to control muzzle flip also means that it’ll be easier for you to keep your sights trained on target so that you’ll be able to make follow-up shots not only more rapidly, but more accurately and with greater confidence.

Just upgrading your favorite handgun (assuming compatibility) with an MX-1 conversion kit will offer you greater stability and better recoil control, which offer other far-reaching benefits. There’s no need to install a heavier guide rod or a compensator when a conversion kit like one of these is potentially easier to use and will offer all of the benefits associated with those other modifications, and more.

Built for Expansion

Integrated into the MX1 conversion kit are both Picatinny and M-LOK rails. These conversion kits sport Pic rails over the top of the platform, as well as under the bottom, and there are side M-LOK rails on both sides of the platform.

This streamlines expanding the platform with accessories, which is a major overhaul considering that most handguns (Glocks included) exhibit a troubling dearth of attachment points.

Adding accessories like lights, lasers, optics like red dot sights, and other more generalized accessories is easy with these conversion kits, and yes, there are many MCK accessories that are compatible with them too. Basically, if they’ll work with a Pic or M-LOK rail system, they’ll work with your MX-1 conversion kit.

Wide Compatibility

MX-1 conversion kits are not just Glock conversion kits, though there are models compatible with over 70 different models including the G17, G19, G22, G45 and others. They are also compatible with select P80 handguns, as well as with the PSA Dagger and the Ruger RXM.
