3 Big Ways an MCK Will Improve Your Accuracy

3 Big Ways an MCK Will Improve Your Accuracy

Posted by MCS GEAR UP on Sep 14th 2026

A CAA micro conversion kit, also known as an MCK, will utterly transform your handling of your favorite handgun, and can confer a wide range of benefits that we will not cover here, though we have covered them at length in our blog before.

Arguably the biggest of these is the fact that most shooters find they can shoot much more accurately with an MCK, even at intermediate and extended ranges.

This is a marked departure from what it’s like to shoot a handgun, generally. They are unwieldy and difficult to shoot accurately, especially at extended ranges, because they trade accuracy and stability for a compact profile.

That is no longer the case with an MCK, which will overhaul your handgun and make it much easier to shoot more accurately. Here are the 3 main ways in which an MCK will accomplish that very thing.

Longer Sight Radius

The first way in which an MCK will make it easier for you to shoot more accurately with your favorite handgun is that it will create a longer sight radius.

Sight radius, if you aren’t familiar, is the distance between the front and rear sights of the gun. The shorter the sight radius, the more magnified issues will become when the sights are not lined up perfectly. As you can imagine, it is quite possible to line up a handgun’s sights less than perfectly, and therein lies one of the complications associated with shooting a handgun accurately.

With an MCK, you’ll have a considerably longer sight radius, which won’t actually make the firearm itself more accurate, but it will result in a much more forgiving sighting setup, which means for most shooters (and likely including you) it will be easier to shoot more accurately.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg here.

Ability to Accept Different Optics

One of the other big selling points of an MCK is that the platform will be littered with attachment points. Namely, you will have a Pic rail over the top of the gun that you can use to mount optics. Granted, some handguns have this on their slides, but by and large you’re much more limited. That’s not the case with a micro conversion kit.

Adding an optic, like a red dot sight, to your MCK, can help you shoot more accurately by making it easier for you to acquire the target and gauge visually where the point of impact might be.

But, beyond that, an MCK doesn’t just limit you to a red dot sight or a reflex sight, the way some handguns do. If you want, you can mount a scope to an MCK, too. While scopes don’t allow some of the advantages of red dot sights, when it comes to accurate shot placement they are highly effective, some of the best optics at your disposal.

Configuring your micro conversion kit with a scope can help you shoot accurately not just at intermediate ranges but potentially at slightly extended ranges. You just need to be cognizant of the limitations of the handgun cartridge and the short barrel.

But, even so, and having said this, mounting a scope to your micro conversion kit is one of the best ways to overhaul it for accurate shooting.

The Platform Can Be Shoulder Mounted

Lastly, and most importantly, an MCK is designed to be shoulder mounted and fundamentally transforms the handling of a handgun.

Being able to shoot the platform from your shoulder will stabilize it, reduce the degree to which your sights move over the sight picture, and help you absorb recoil, which in its turn should enable you to make faster and more accurate follow up shots, too.

But, really, the big thing here is the stability that will arise from the fact that an MCK can be shoulder-mounted. Like any platform, being able to shoulder the micro conversion kit will offer exceptional stability that will calm your sights and should make it easier for you to connect with a target.

Then, pair that fact with an MCK that’s been outfitted with an optic such as a red dot sight or a scope, and you have a platform that’s optimized for shooting accurately at intermediate ranges, despite the fact that the heart of a micro conversion kit is a handgun.
